Wasps

Wasps are recognisable by there distinct black and yellow striped, being stung by a wasp is painful so be careful if you come in counter with a wasps nest. A wasps nest is identifiable as it is usually a white colour and is a circular shaped. Wasps nest can appear anywhere such as in a tree, in the roof of a house, underneath a house, they can more or less build a nest in any place where there is sufficient space to do so. There was recently a wasps nest found in a pub loft in Southampton that was the size of a double bedded mattress and was home to approximately 500,000 wasps.

Flies

Flies are a nuisance to anyone where ever you are. The problems with flies is that when they land if they land on work tops or food they contaminate that area and also leave droppings which can cause contamination and diseases especially in facilities that produce food. They can have an impact on a business as if customers are in a shop, restaurant etc that produces food and there are a number of flies around the place then the customers are unlikely to come back as this gives the impression of the place being dirty and unhygienic.

Rats

Rats can be particularly nasty so if you come into contact with a rat do not try and corner the rat as it goes for the throat. Rats can spread a wide range of infections like salmonella. Rats can also contaminate food and worktops by climbing onto worktops and spreading diseases. General signs of a rat infestion are cables and furniture being chewed up, droppings on the floor, have a strong smell. We can deal with rat problems so if you think that you have a rat problem do not hesitate to call.

Cockroaches

Cockroaches also carry a number of diseases such as salmonella. They are identifiable by there brown/black coloured body and have two long antennas. They can also cause damage to things like furniture and wood as they eat almost anything. They can have a negative impact on food businesses as if customers see that a restaurant has cockroaches then they are not likely to go back especially with the way that cockroaches look. Ants

Ants can cause contamination to food surfaces and can infest food areas so try not to keep food out if you have an ant problem. Ants can very easily get into houses and if there are signs of small heaps of dirt on the floor then this could be a sign of a nest. Similar to flies and cockroaches if ants are found in a food premises then they could damage a companies reputation as it would look unclean and unhygienic. Moles

These animals are a pest for the damage that they do to gardens. Moles can cause damage quickly as there is usually more than one mole at a time as some moles have their pups with them who can also cause damaeg. If you have a mole problem then get in touch.
